Creating A Corporate Video
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to piece together a corporate video for the shop that was going to be aired at a Ferndale Chamber of Commerce meeting. I was quite excited about doing such a project, but I also knew it was going to be a challenge.
I have edited a few small videos before, but nothing of this scale: 3 or 4 minutes long, with several dozen video clips and still images, background music as well as a full narration throughout the entire video, spoken by your’s truly. Fortunately, just as much as this was a challenge, it was also a wonderful opportunity, for multiple reasons.
1) If a picture is worth a thousand words, then at 30 frames a second this 3 minute 20 second video is worth 200,000! Video speaks volumes, and can be very engaging. This was an opportunity for Print & Copy Factory to tailor the perfect message for all of our prospective customers to hear. What is important to us, and what is important for our customers to know about us? In brainstorming the hundreds of words of dialog we got an opportunity to answer those exact questions.
2) We are Your Marketing Resource Center! We’re sure of that. We haven’t been ‘just a print shop’ for about 3 years. Our focus is not to just get pieces of duplicated paper in your hand. We want to talk to you, get to know you and help you determine the best way to get your marketing message out. It doesn’t matter if that method is print, social media, websites, direct mail or corporate video! We feel confident prescribing each of these methods to a customer because we use all of them ourselves.
3) The last reason I feel this experience was worth-while is that videos are very personal projects. This is not the “about us” section of our Facebook page where we are going to jot down a short paragraph with the expectations of a few people reading it. These are our stories, our faces, our voices. We spent hours pouring over the script, discussing every section of text and how it reflected our business. This challenged us to take a serious look at what we do, and how we want our customers to see us. When you determine how you want your customer to see you, you find out what is actually important to your business.
So those are the reasons we enjoyed putting this video together for you. Now I hope that you enjoy it!
